Year 3 Tuition
Build the foundations now. Keep future options open.
Year 3 is the right time to strengthen reading, vocabulary, number fluency and problem-solving without turning learning into exam preparation.
For children who may later sit the 11+, Year 3 should still feel like strong primary education — not endless entrance-exam papers. The goal is to make the core English and Maths skills increasingly secure so that more structured preparation can begin from a better starting point in Year 4.
What we build in Year 3
English: fluent reading, vocabulary, retrieval, simple inference, sentence control, spelling and organised writing.
Maths: times tables, place value, arithmetic, fractions, time, money, problem-solving and explaining methods.
Learning habits: independence, attention, checking work, learning from mistakes and persisting with unfamiliar questions.
Why this matters before Year 4
A child who enters Year 4 with stronger reading, vocabulary and number fluency has more capacity to learn reasoning methods later. Starting early should reduce pressure — not move the pressure earlier.
