Ilford County High School – History
ICHS was established in 1901, with the building initially set up in Balfour road, Ilford. The grounds of the school in Balfour road now make up Christchurch Primary School and the Redbridge Teacher’s Centre. The school was first called Park Higher Grade School, and was a co-ed school, with the girl’s section moving to Cranbrook Road, where it is now known as Valentines High School.
In 1935, the school moved to Fremantle Road, Barkingside, where it has remained to this day. Additions to the building include a new Sports Hall, a study suite and Library (Learning Resource Centre), a refurbished canteen, and a new building for science and technology.
